The Church of Peace in Świdnica, listed in UNESCO World Heritage List, is Europe′s largest wooden church. It was built after the ′30-year war′ under the Peace Treaty of Westphalia. Emperor Ferdinand III was then obliged to build three Protestant “Churches of Peace” under special conditions:  outside the city walls, without towers, constructed only from wood, sand, clay and straw. And… within one year time! Church of Peace in Świdnica was opened in 1657 and was able to admit 7500 worshippers. No wonder – just proof that faith overcome all obstacles…
